Buskers - and those who hate them - are given a chance to moan.
The life of a busker is not always a merry one, with inclement weather, irrational passers by and general prejudice often getting in the way...
And then there are those who just hate buskers. The Reverend Colin Slee OBE, Dean of Southwark, came rushing over to us as we rehearsed buskers on the South Bank for Movement Four. He lives next to the Tate Modern and his life is often made miserable by buskers "playing the same tunes over and over again." We obviously wanted to give him the chance to have his say.
Filmed entirely on the travelators at Waterloo Station (a location flanked by two official LU Busking pitches) and accompanied by an a capella soundtrack sung by buskers past and present, movement three is the wordiest of all the films.
We were privileged to be able to feature the world's oldest busker in this film. Joe Newman OBE is 91. He busks for the Chelsea Pensioners, War Widows and ex-Japanese prisoners of war outside Fortnum and Masons and is an absolute firecracker!
Quote of the film:
"people have danced infront of me, people have cried in front of me... and to cap it all, a woman urinated in front of me at Picadilly Circus" (Rob "Bluesman" Bryce)
